Who is Swapan Suin and why he started Sukher Swarga Foundation, Sundarbans grassroots NGO

The story of Safalya Academy is a story of hope, resilience, and a deep love for the Sundarbans. It begins not with a grand plan or a wealthy benefactor, but with a young man named Swapan Suin and his simple, profound dream.Swapan Suin, Founder, SSF Born into a humble family in the village + post office – Purba Atapur, Police station – Sandeshkhali, North 24 parganas, West Bengal, Pin – 743446, Sundarbans, Swapan knew firsthand the struggles of getting a quality education.

He navigated his own journey through school with the help of kind organizations and caring individuals. complete his graduation with ENGLISH honours from Calcutta University, DLED from West bengal board of primary education. Qualified CTET PAPER 1 AND 2 , WB TET also , having MSW etc as a part time teacher of Manipur M b c High school.

But unlike many who might leave their past behind, Swapan carried the lessons of his upbringing and the needs of his community close to his heart. He returned home with a burning question: “What can I do for my Sundarbans?”He saw the annual devastation of cyclones and floods. He and his friends would rush to distribute relief, but he knew this wasn’t a lasting solution. He started planting mangroves( 4.8 lakhs mangroves planted) —nature’s own barrier against the storms.

But as a teacher, his true calling lay in planting something even more vital: the seeds of education.And so, Sukher Swarga Foundation was born. Its first, most precious project was Safalya Academy, a school built from the ground up by the community itself. Starting with three small coaching centers, the foundation began its work in 2018, bringing quality education to a region where it was desperately needed.Today, Safalya Academy is more than just a school; it’s a testament to the idea that a single person, fueled by passion and supported by their community, can spark a revolution.

Swapan and his team have big dreams—to build a residential school for students from classes 6 to 12, creating a safe and stable environment for learning. They also want to establish combined exam centers to help local youth prepare for government jobs, giving them a real chance at a brighter future.The journey hasn’t been easy.

The lack of funding is a constant challenge, but it has not broken their spirit. Every student who walks through the doors of Safalya Academy is a step forward. Every mangrove planted is an act of defiance against the storms. Every small success is a beacon of hope, showing that with a little help and a lot of heart, the Sundarbans can blossom.Safalya Academy is more than a school; it’s the realization of Swapan’s vision.

It’s a place where students don’t just learn to read and write; they learn to dream, to build, and to protect the land they call home. It is a true haven of hope in the heart of the Sundarbans.
